Struggling with pain or tension?

Insurances We Accept

HFC participates currently with Medicare, Highmark and Capital Blue Cross plans.

As a new patient, you are provided with a financial consultation prior to beginning care, and as a service to our patients, we verify your coverage with your insurance company prior to that visit.

(If we do not participate with your insurance plan, don’t worry. We keep our prices deeply competitive, we take Care Credit, and we work with patients in MANY ways to ensure care is affordable with or without insurance!)

For your convenience and reference, we have provided precise policies for the plans that provide accessibility to their medical policies:

Highmark Policy on Chiropractic Care:

Medicare Policy on Chiropractic Care:

As stated directly by Medicare, Preventative or Maintenance Care is not deemed medically necessary, nor is it a covered service.

FAQ

Do I have to use my insurance?

When a doctor’s office participates with an insurance policy, and if the service being provided is covered by the policy, the office is UNDER CONTRACT to bill for that service. We do not have a choice and cannot simply “choose” to not bill for a covered service.

Can you change codes to "get things covered"?

At HFC, we uphold the very highest in standards in terms of integrity in our billing and care. We will ONLY use codes and billing practices that are accurate to what you are receiving, and what your insurance company’s policies are. We absolutely do not and will not try to “work the system” in a way that can put our licenses at risk or is dishonest.

Why is my insurance company telling me that you are billing wrong or using incorrect codes?

First, refer to question #2. Secondly, an insurance representative is not licensed or qualified to tell a provider how to diagnose or bill. This is practicing medicine without a license. They are only qualified to tell you what is or is not covered under your policy based upon the information they have available to them.

If an insurance company changes policy, or we are made aware of any changes, we will make changes and update as is appropriate, legal and ethical on a case by case basis. We have a commitment to full transparency with our patients.

This issue is MOST COMMON when a patient is under Preventative or Maintenance Care.

My insurance company said I shouldn't be paying and I met my deductible. What now?

Unfortunately, providers are NOT contacted by an insurance company when a deductible is met. We have no idea that happens until we receive an EOB back from an insurance company, or the patient communicates with with us.

A good rule of thumb, if you’ve had a bigger procedure or injury, is to notify ALL of our regular providers to ensure they can do an extra check or be on the lookout for this information and can update your rates accordingly.

My other Chiropractor never made me pay anything, I only had to pay "X", why is it different at HFC?

We cannot and will not try to compare our billing practices to other Chiropractic offices. HFC follows very strict and ethical guidelines when it comes to billing and coding in an effort to protect our licenses as providers, and our ability to continue serving our patients. Our decisions are based upon what YOUR insurance company has told us during verification and the policies provided to us by YOUR insurance company. It is incredibly important for you as a patient to understand your policy for all of the services you receive!
