HFC had the opportunity to visit Fleet Feet in Harrisburg, PA, and the experience was nothing short of eye-opening for our entire team!
As chiropractors, we spend a great deal of time talking with our patients about how interconnected the body really is. One of the most overlooked areas of health—and yet one of the most influential is the feet. The way our feet function directly impacts gait patterns, balance, and posture. When the foundation is off, everything else above it can be affected. Poor foot health and improper gait can quickly lead to knee and hip pain, which over time can place additional strain on the back and spine. This can cause discomfort not just in movement but in daily life. Because of this, we are always looking for ways to help our patients support their bodies more effectively, starting from the ground up.
That’s exactly why our visit to Fleet Feet was so exciting. This wasn’t about simply shopping for shoes though, believe me, they carry an incredible selection! Instead, it was about education, discovery, and finding the tools that can help improve not only how we move but how we feel.
The visit began with their unique “fit id” outfitting process, which uses advanced scanning technology to take a detailed look at each foot. In just seconds, we had a 3D view that highlighted the length, width, and arch of my feet. This wasn’t just helpful, it was eye-opening. For years, I had tried different types of shoes without really understanding why certain pairs never felt quite right. Seeing my scan helped explain everything. It brought clarity to why some shoes felt uncomfortable, why others wore down quickly, and why I wasn’t always getting the support I needed.
After the scan, the staff walked me through what the results meant and then guided me into the gait evaluation. This step was fascinating. I tried on several different types of shoes while they observed how I moved in them. The goal wasn’t simply to find a shoe that fit but to find one that complemented the way I walk and supported the natural movement of my body. It was a thoughtful, step-by-step process that made me feel seen and understood as both a customer and a healthcare professional.
But the experience didn’t stop at shoes. I was introduced to performance socks and arch supports that completely changed how the shoes fit my feet. The difference was immediate—suddenly my shoes hugged my feet in the right way, and the level of support I felt while walking around the store was unlike anything I had experienced before. It was the kind of transformation that makes you think: Why didn’t I do this sooner?
Beyond the technical expertise, what really stood out was the team at Fleet Feet. They were knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely invested in making sure the fit was perfect. The Harrisburg location was also a huge plus for us since it’s so close to our office in Hershey, making it an easy and convenient resource not only for us but for our patients as well.
Walking away from this visit, we knew we had found something special. Shoes are more than just accessories, they’re foundational tools that can either support or hinder our health. And when paired with chiropractic care, the right footwear can make an incredible difference in reducing pain, improving movement, and promoting long-term wellness.
That’s why we’ve decided to partner with this outstanding group of professionals at Fleet Feet Harrisburg. We are so excited to share this resource with our patients and to help them experience the same kind of “aha” moment that we did. After all, taking care of your health truly starts from the ground up and now we have an amazing partner to help make that possible.
